The winery is among the historical names in Sardinian viticulture, especially in the north-western part of the island. Since its foundation by Giovanni Maria Cherchi, the goal has been to showcase the Usini territory through Vermentino, the classic Sardinian white grape, expertly interpreted thanks to both soil and climate. Additionally, the Cagnulari, a much less known red grape, has been a focus for Cherchi for a considerable time and is increasingly standing out. The vineyards cover around thirty hectares, situated at 200 metres above sea level, influenced by the breezes coming from the coast and the limestone-clayey soils characterising this area in the province of Sassari.

Vermentino di Sardegna Tuvaoes 2022 - Giovanni Maria Cherchi
The best value-for-money wine in Sardinia according to the 2024 Berebene guide
There's no doubt about it. The Tuvaoes is one of the finest wines tasted among those selected by Gambero Rosso's 2024 Berebene guide, which is why we have awarded it the Regional Quality-Price Prize for Sardinia. We're talking about a Vermentino from Sardinia that has played a part in the Island's white wine history. The 2022 version exudes scents of medlar, aromatic herbs, and fresh almond. The palate is savoury, pure, crystal-clear, and incredibly elegant from the first sip to a very clean finish. A great white that will age very well.
