Rare Wines this time takes us to the heart of Chianti Classico and precisely to the town of Radda in Chianti. Let's discover two great Sangiovese reds, the result of vines located at over 400 metres above sea level. Both are very authentic wines, which express all the finesse and elegance of the Radda area, in two interpretations that offer a refined mix of variety and vineyard.

They share the Sangiovese grape, the territory, the altitude and, last but not least, a respectful approach in the vineyard and in the cellar, the result of high craftsmanship aimed at enhancing all the good that nature has to offer. In addition to being two great wines, the ones we present to you are wholesome reds, straightforward, highly drinkable, elegant and fresh.

The Chianti Classico Riserva 2019 is produced by Diego Finocchi and comes from a small portion obtained from the Casino dell'Erta vineyard: it shows all the energy of Radda and the character of the great Chianti red. The other, the Chianti Classico Vigna Casanova dell'Aia 2020, is the interpretation of Angela Fronti who tries her hand in the historic family vineyard, Casanova dell'Aia, planted for the first time by the family back in 1982. Finesse, elegance and a strength coming from 500 metres above sea level.

VINEYARD | The Casanova dell'Aia vineyard, 4 hectares in total, is the first vineyard planted by the Fronti family in 1982, but was partly replanted in 2014 and partly in 2018. Mainly grown in Sangiovese with a small share of Trebbiano and Malvasia, it is located near the town of Radda in Chianti, at a height of around 500 metres above sea level. The soil is rich in skeleton, with alternating marly limestones (Alberese and Galestro) and a good presence of clay. VINEYARD | The central core is represented by the four hectares of the "Casino dell'Erta" vineyard, which inspired the company name of Erta di Radda, opposite those of Caparsa. A place with basically poor soils and the presence of alberese, which is located at an altitude of over 400 metres above sea level. It is an old vineyard, typical of the viticulture of the 1960s, planted in Sangiovese, Canaiolo, Trebbiano and Malvasia, then gradually replanted and restored to full efficiency.
