Tre Bicchieri 2024, the 2 best Friulano wines awarded by Gambero Rosso

Here are the two Friulano labels that were awarded Tre Bicchieri in this year's Vini d'Italia guide by Gambero Rosso

In a land with a vocation for white wines, one might have expected heavy wines with little acidity and liveliness from a dry year like 2022, but our tastings proved otherwise. It is true that many of the Tre Bicchieri awarded this year are the result of previous vintages, and that excellence was achieved with more or less long periods of ageing, but nevertheless no less than six wines from the 2022 vintage achieved the highest accolade.

Tre Bicchieri 2024. The best Friulano wines

Here we focus on Friulano, of which we have awarded two excellent expressions with Tre Bicchieri in the Gambero Rosso Vini d'Italia 2024 guide. Torre Rosazza's FCO Friulano '22 offers fresh sensations of white flowers and crisp apple goden tones. The palate is progressive, well extended grace a pronounced acidity that is well integrated into the structure of the wine. The finish is continuous, with intense sensations of delicately toasted almonds and floral returns.  Torre Rosazza is part of the Le Tenute di Genagricola group, which brings together many prestigious brands in different regions of Italy and which acquired the historic winery in the Manzano hills in the 1970s. Realising its potential, he immediately embarked on a process of studying and zoning the vineyards, in order to identify the plots that could best interpret the vines of the area. For many years now, management has been entrusted to a highly efficient staff orchestrated by Enrico Raddi.

The Friulano V. Cinquant'Anni '21 by Le Vigne di Zamò is the jewel in the crown of a production of the highest level, with wines that display inimitable territorial characteristics. The protagonists derive from the same grape variety, the Tocai Friulano, the pride of the region. For some years now, the brand has been part of Oscar Farinetti's Fontanafredda group, but the workforce has remained unchanged and there has been no lack of stimulation. The company headquarters stands out on the hill overlooking the famous Abbey of Rosazzo, while the ultra-modern wine cellar is well camouflaged in the environment, completely underground. All the wines presented owe credit to the prestigious brand.
