An agreement for active participation of the Tommasi Family, producer of Amarone, in the Marco Felluga brand, a historic winery in Collio. The Marco Felluga and Russiz Superiore brands will maintain operational and commercial autonomy. The focus is on investments, quality, and innovation

After months of dialogue and negotiations between two major brands in the Italian wine industry, the announcement comes just before Vinitaly 2024: as anticipated by Gambero Rosso, the Tommasi family enters the capital of Russiz Superiore. It's a partnership aimed at preserving and enhancing the winemaking heritage of Collio, according to Dario Tommasi, president of Tommasi Family Estates, a brand that has been producing Amarone della Valpolicella for four generations and is now present in eight Italian regions, with a turnover exceeding 30 million euros in 2023.

Autonomous brands

Both parties have agreed to active participation by the Tommasi Family and its joint commitment to the Marco Felluga brand, although the Marco Felluga and Russiz Superiore brands will maintain operational and commercial autonomy from the Verona-based company. Russiz Superiore, located in Capriva del Friuli, is considered Marco Felluga's cru, synonymous with history and excellence. The estate, spread over 100 hectares, of which 50 are vineyards, represents an invaluable asset in the heart of Collio. Marco Felluga, active for six generations, produces high-quality white wines from native grape varieties and is led by Ilaria Felluga.

Collio's Company

"I will continue to lead the companies, with our collaborators, proudly maintaining the role of representation and leadership," says Ilaria Felluga, "while the Tommasi Family will support me in investments for growth and development." The fundamental cornerstones will always be those on which my grandfather Marco and my father Roberto decided to base their work and their approach to the world of wine, including attention to sustainability issues and the adoption of innovative processes, supported by scientific research." As Dario Tommasi explained, the goal is to produce wines of the highest quality with reduced environmental impact.

Tommasi expands wine heritage

For Tommasi Family Estates, the partnership fits into the long-term vision and strategy and is an important milestone in the growth of the family business. Collaboration with Friulian companies, in particular, expands Tommasi's wine heritage, controlling directly or through partnerships approximately 900 hectares of vineyards: from Tenuta di Caseo in Oltrepò Pavese to Paternoster (Basilicata), from Poggio al Tufo (Maremma) to Casisano (Montalcino) and Masseria Surani (Manduria).
