The award for the wine with the best quality-price ratio in Friuli Venezia Giulia in the Berebene 2024 guide has been given to a Collio Pinot Bianco. Here it is

The history of the Komjanc family in San Floriano del Collio dates back to ancient times: it is known that Alessio's great-grandparents were already producing wine by the end of the 19th century, but the first label bearing the Alessio Komjanc brand dates back to 1973. Upon establishing the company, he declared that his goal was to produce wines and high-quality olive oil. This goal was pursued for decades and came to fruition in 2000 when all four sons (Beniamin, Roberto, Patrik, and Ivan) settled permanently in the company, successfully streamlining the entire production process. With invaluable cellar consultancy, the quality of the wines improved exponentially, and now the Komjanc label stands among those that best showcase the potential of Collio.

And if you think that drinking great wines from Collio requires spending a fortune, we can assure you that you are mistaken. The 2022 Pinot Bianco, which we reviewed and received the Regional Quality-Price Award for Friuli Venezia Giulia in the Gambero Rosso's Berebene 2024 guide, clearly proves this. Exclusively vinified in steel, we are dealing with a true standout: incredibly fragrant with notes of white flowers, chamomile, and peach, it boasts a creamy, enveloping yet vibrant palate. The finish is long and multifaceted.
