Small family-run company, Fattoria Moretto, was founded in 1971 after Antonio Altariva, the patriarch, arrived in the area from Pavullo nel Frignano in the 1960s to establish a sharecropping contract. It was his son Domenico who purchased the first properties including a house and a cellar. However, the most significant step occurred in 1991 when the third generation, represented by Fausto and Fabio, decided to bottle the wine. The Altariva family presents distinctive versions of Grasparossa, cultivated from vineyards managed organically. Situated on the gentle hills of the municipality of Castelvetro, the company is increasingly establishing itself as an interpreter of the appellation. Vineyard management is conducted using organic practices, and the micro-zoning of the various vineyards allows for grape selection, ensuring a continuous pursuit of excellence and distinctive character in wine production.

Lambrusco Grasparossa di Castelvetro Rosato Sbiadì 2022

The wine with the best quality-price ratio in Emilia Romagna according to the Berebene 2024 guide

The Grasparossa from the range was excellent, but what really surprised us was the Lambrusco Grasparossa di Castelvetro Rosato Sbiadì '22 from Fattoria Moretto, which received the Regional Quality-Price Award for Emilia Romagna in the Berebene 2024 guide by Gambero Rosso. It's an ancient pink Grasparossa, enticing the sense of smell with aromas of raspberries and wild strawberries with slight mineral hints. The taste is flavourful, with evident effervescence yet integrated into an elegant and taut body, promising a fulfilling finish.
