In the ranking compiled by the English magazine Drinks International, Antinori ranks fourth, but along with the Tuscan company, Gaja (tenth), Planeta, Zonin, Ornellaia, Tignanello, and Frescobaldi are also included in the list

Antinori is among the most admired companies in the world. This is revealed by the ranking of the international magazine Drinks International with the World's Most Admired Brands 2024 ranking. The historic Tuscan company ranks fourth, but within the list are also included six other Italian companies that stand alongside wineries from around the world. We find Gaja (tenth), Planeta (30th), Ornellaia (31st), Zonin (39th), Frescobaldi (45th), and Tignanello (46th). "We are pleased to reward the results achieved by the most appreciated wine brands on the planet," said Drinks International editor Justin Smith.

How the ranking is compiled

The list of the most admired companies in the world is created by a committee set up by the magazine itself. Composed of a panel of 100 individuals including wine buyers, sommeliers, Master of Wines, journalists, and experts who "have no affiliation with wineries, to ensure that the results are free from any bias," says the magazine. Among the parameters that contribute to compiling the ranking are quality and consistency of production, quality-to-price ratio, brand strength within the market, sustainability, and social and corporate responsibility. "Every year our Academy of experts strengthens, and I firmly believe it is the most authoritative collection of independent wine professionals in the sector," said Drinks International director Shay Waterworth. "It is particularly important to me that a percentile of the Academy is rotated each year to ensure a real and fair representation of the industry globally."

Seven Italian wineries

The Antinori family company has repeatedly reached the top of the ranking, and this year it firmly secures fourth place after taking the first place in 2023. From Tuscany, we move to Piedmont, a few positions down, at number 10 we find Gaja. At the thirtieth and thirty-first positions, side by side, are Planeta and Ornellaia. Zonin re-enters the ranking at position 34, while Frescobaldi and Tignanello (also from Antinori) secure positions 45 and 46. "Earning a place in this prestigious list is therefore an important achievement, and I personally congratulate the top 50 ranked this year," said Shay Waterworth.
