Giacomo Ponti is the new president of Federvini. The decision was made during the national assembly in Rome on Wednesday, 25 June, during which Aldo Davoli and Piero Mastroberardino were also appointed as vice presidents. Albiera Antinori was confirmed as president of the Wine Group, while Leonardo Vena was chosen for the Spirits Group, and Sabrina Federzoni for the Vinegar Group.
This decision reflects a continued alternation between the different branches within the federation, which in the last term was led by Micaela Pallini (spirits), and before her, Sandro Boscaini (wine).
Who is Giacomo Ponti
Born in 1972, Giacomo Ponti heads the family business founded in 1787 in Ghemme and represents the ninth generation of a historic Made in Italy company, active in the vinegar and preserves sector: Ponti S.p.A.
With his appointment, for the first time a representative from the vinegar sector becomes president of the federation, which is affiliated with Federalimentare and Confindustria.
This marks a confirmation of the “growing centrality of all the supply chains represented by Federvini, and a choice” — as stated in an official note — “that strengthens the link between entrepreneurial tradition and the representation of Made in Italy agri-food excellence.”
Priorities for the term
The new president described the current moment as a complex historical phase, marked by major international tensions and uncertainty.
“Federvini,” he stated, “will continue to represent our businesses with strength and expertise, enhancing their quality, sustainability, and economic centrality.”
President Ponti’s mandate will focus on several priorities:
“Strengthening the international competitiveness of the sector, first and foremost safeguarding the cultural value of all its segments — from wines to spirits to vinegars — which form an economic heritage of extraordinary prestige for our country.”
Pallini’s farewell
“I leave the presidency with pride and gratitude,” said Micaela Pallini, “for the work carried out during complex years, in which we strengthened the role of our sectors both in Italy and in Europe. We defended the cultural and social value of our production model, supported competitiveness, and promoted responsible consumption. My best wishes go to Giacomo Ponti.”
