Tre Bicchieri 2024: The Best Verdicchio from Matelica
Verdicchio di Matelica Collestefano 2022
Verdicchio di Matelica Petrara 2022
There are few Italian white grape varieties to turn to when seeking a comparison with the passage of time. Among these, a prominent place is held by Verdicchio. To say Verdicchio is to say Marche: it's one of those cases where there's a special connection between a grape and its territory. However, the spread of the grape doesn't encompass the entire region but only a portion that we could define as 'central.' There are two homelands for this grape: a rather extensive one in the province of Ancona, in the Castelli di Jesi, and the other, a more western area in the upper Vallesina, in the province of Macerata. Even the name of the denomination changes, baptized by the town of Matelica: here, Verdicchio becomes more rugged and sharp, fresh and direct. And it's precisely the Verdicchio from Matelica that we present the labels we've awarded this year.
