A journey through time with a dining car, afternoon tea, breakfast served in cabins, and a personal concierge. Among the stops are also Montalcino and Monferrato

The Orient Express is warming up its engines for its debut in Italy. Indeed, 2024 will be the year when the luxury travels of La Dolce Vita (managed by the French group Accor) will become a reality to transport passengers back in time along the entire peninsula. The promise is to relive a retro charm experience, similar to the one that was breathed on the first Paris-Constantinople route in the 19th century and that subsequently stimulated Agatha Christie's imagination to write one of her best-sellers: "Murder on the Orient Express."

From Montalcino to Monferrato

For the Italian Grand Tour, the journeys could only be dictated by the culinary traditions of the regions traversed. In the eight proposed itineraries, there are also Montalcino and Monferrato. For both, the departure is from Rome and includes visits to historic wineries and the discovery of the territory, truffles included.

But the two wine destinations are only part of the offer, which is completed with the discovery of the wonders of Sicily, the charm of Maratea, the mystery of Venice, with options for one or two nights. Lunches, dinners, and afternoon tea are obviously served in the dining car, with embroidered white tablecloths, silverware of the finest traditions, and background music. The "Grand Tour d'Italie" breakfast, on the other hand, arrives directly in the cabin. The journey promises mysterious dances, unique cocktails, and gaming salons. And, the icing on the cake, a personal concierge for customizing your own trip.

But... at the moment, access to the dream stops at pre-registration. The first departures are, in fact, scheduled for the end of 2024. At the moment, you can join the priority list.
