The Best Quality Price Ratio in the Vini d’Italia 2024 guide
The Best Quality Price Ratio this year is represented by Mandrolisai Rosso Fradiles '21 by Fradiles of Atzara, which manages to offer us a memorable red, from old alberello-trained vines with very low yields at a more than affordable price.
The Fradiles winery is located in the heart of the Sardinian hinterland, in the middle of Mandrolisai, a territorial DOC inextricably linked to cannonau, bovale and monica. The soils are schistose and rich in granite, and the style of the winery is traditional, artisan, with much work in the vineyard, aimed at reflecting in the bottle the rugged terrain where the vines grow, sometimes over 700 metres above sea level, and perhaps decades old. This is the mission of Paolo Savoldo, a winemaker who reflects these lands as much as his wines, and who usually lets them speak for him.
