VINEYARD | Inside barrel 22 breathes a blend of two native grape varieties of the Olevano Romano area, Trebbiano Verde and Ottonese, coming from two vineyards planted at different times and cultivated in a completely traditional way. The origin of the soils is volcanic by nature, the grapes are harvested manually, upon reaching full optimal ripeness and vinified to enhance their recognisability and adherence to the context in which the winery operates.
PERSON | Letizia Rocchi and Damiano Ciolli lead a boutique winery, about 7 total hectares, meticulously cared for in every detail of production. Damiano Ciolli has inherited a family viticultural tradition - his grandfather Guido, like many producers in the Olevano Romano area, produced and sold bulk wine in Rome - taking it to a higher level, with fine Cesanese grapes, to the point that he was able to make the company an absolute reference for the territory. A lot of passion, mild temperament, few soft-spoken words, his bottles do the talking. Botte Ventidue is the only white produced on the estate.
WINE | The wine ferments spontaneously in large barrels, where it matures for 11 months, and then rests for a month in a concrete tank, before travelling to the bottle. The colour is particularly concentrated, the aromas immediately bring us to straw and hay, the aromas are intense, including toasted notes, hazelnuts, bread (yeast) and sensations of spontaneous herbs. The impact in the mouth is powerful, with volume and flavour; herbaceous sensations that run after juicy peach tones. The finish is a bit quick, then a delicate smoky background relaunches the round of sensations. A wine with two faces and two rhythms, preserved in a single barrel.
