Giovanni Minetti is the new president of the Alta Langa Consortium. The current manager of Tenuta Carretta (formerly of Fontanafredda, also a former president of the Barolo and Barbaresco Consortium, and one of the founders of FIVI – Independent Winegrowers) takes over from Mariacristina Castelletta. The protection body, which brings together 90 sparkling wine producers, today includes 490 hectares of vineyards (one-third Chardonnay and two-thirds Pinot Noir) for 3.2 million bottles produced from the 2024 harvest. He is joined by vice-president Gianmario Cerutti (Coppo).
The goals of the mandate
Minetti, who also chairs the Grand Wine Tour Association (a network of Italian wineries combining fine wines with hospitality), speaks of an important legacy and a great responsibility compared to the outgoing leadership. “A process of steady growth, both in terms of quantity and quality, as well as the promotion of an extraordinary product. As we envisaged from the very origins of the denomination,” said the new president, “we must continue to work to make Alta Langa DOCG a strategic product and a true representative of the high quality of Piedmont’s wine landscape.”
The new board
Today, the board of directors also includes Giovanna Bagnasco (Agricola Brandini), Piero Bagnasco (Fontanafredda), Alberto Cane (Marcalberto), Luca Cigliuti (Contratto), Antonio Deltetto (Deltetto), Domenico Conta (Enrico Serafino), Carlo Galliano (Borgo Maragliano), Roberto Garbarino (Roberto Garbarino), Andrea Farinetti (Casa E. di Mirafiore), and Orlando Pecchenino (Pecchenino).
