Giacomo Bartolommei (33 years old) is the new President of the Brunello di Montalcino Wine Consortium: the youngest ever in the denomination’s history and among the youngest in Italy to hold such a position. Unanimously appointed by the newly formed Board of Directors, he succeeds Fabrizio Bindocci for the next three-year term. Also elected were the new Vice-Presidents: Andrea Cortonesi (Uccelliera, who will head the Technical Committee), Fabio Ratto (Antinori, Institutional Committee), and Bernardino Sani (Argiano, Promotion Committee).
A unanimous election
"The high percentage of members present at the recent elections sends a strong message of belonging to the Consortium," were Bartolommei’s first words. "The hope, therefore, is that all members will rediscover in the Consortium a favourable environment for cohesion and collaborative work for the good and development of the territory. The current economic climate demands strong action in terms of promotion and communication. Our priority will be twofold: to enhance the prestige of our wines and to strengthen their perception in the market."

Fabrizio Bindocci, outgoing president
The legacy of Bindocci
"I leave the new President with a financially solid Consortium which, in 2024, recorded a turnover of nearly €4.5 million, a 4.3% increase on the previous year, and a profit of nearly €627,000 allocated to reserves," commented outgoing President Fabrizio Bindocci, who served two consecutive terms. "I am confident that the new leadership will be able to face upcoming challenges with determination and vision, continuing to invest in the promotion and positioning of the entire quality pyramid expressed by the wines of Montalcino, starting with Brunello, which has increasingly become a territorial brand recognised worldwide."
Who is Giacomo Bartolommei
Born in 1991, Giacomo Bartolommei is currently the oenologist and export manager at Caprili, the family-owned winery founded in 1965 in the south-western area of the Montalcino municipality. After studying Oenology and Viticulture at the Ricasoli Agricultural Technical Institute in Siena, he officially joined Caprili in 2016, the year of his first harvest. In 2018, he earned a degree in Economics and Business from the University of Siena. He served as Vice-President of the Consortium during the last three-year term.
Violante Gardini Cinelli Colombini also joins the board
In addition to appointing its youngest President ever, the Board of Directors of the Brunello di Montalcino Wine Consortium now includes three women, thanks to the entry of Violante Gardini Cinelli Colombini (Casato Prime Donne) following the resignation of Andrea Costanti, who stepped down for personal reasons shortly after the elections on 14 May.
