In 1926, the noble Torrigiani di Santa Cristina family founded a small distillery near the River Elsa. In 1978, Deta was set up to modernize the old distillery once called Lo Stillo. Over the years the facilities have developed and are now a leading distribution centre for grappa in Tuscany. Today modern technology with cutting-edge stills is used to make the grappa, employing highly specialized personnel. In addition to grappa, Deta also produces brandy, limoncino and grape aquavit.
