Riccione is one of the most popular destinations on the Romagna Riviera, especially in summer, with its equipped beaches and traditional local food perfect for enjoying even by the sea. Between a piadina and a bowl of brodetto alla romagnola, there’s always the right moment to taste some excellent gelato. Here are the three best gelaterias in Riccione, recommended by our Gelaterie d’Italia 2025 guide.
Ciò Gelato
Owned by passionate gelato makers Pierfrancesco Romano and Maurizio Bernardini (also behind Galliera 49 in Bologna), this gelateria just off the seafront combines technique, care, and top-quality ingredients. Expect an inventive menu—around twenty offerings including creams, sorbets and granite—with a dynamic swing between timeless classics and original creations. Highlights include water-based flavours like Romagna strawberry and Cantiano sour cherry, zabaione with Marsala wine from Cantina Intorcia, Malaga with passito wine from Pantelleria, watermelon, pear & cinnamon, salted caramel, and Ecuadorian cacao puree sorbet. Be sure to try their granite varieties too—from coffee and almond to fig and delightful peach. Open seasonally from late May to early September.

Gelateria Cortese
Since 1999, this gelateria—just steps from the sea—has been a beloved spot for lovers of “natural” gelato, honest and gluten-free. Its sea‑foam green walls, large windows and lovely outdoor seating set the stage for beautifully balanced cones and cups. Creamy classics like fiordilatte, pistachio, hazelnut and stracciatella stand alongside indulgent creations like the Cortesalato (cream gelato with salted caramel and roasted salted peanuts) and Quello buono (white chocolate & hazelnut with gianduia sauce and chopped peanuts). A fine selection of vegan options made with seasonal fruit and nuts—especially coconut and almond—awaits, along with fruit granite, popsicles, semifreddos, and tarts. In winter, enjoy crepes and hot chocolate topped with whipped cream. Service is friendly and attentive.

SliceRoll
The newest innovation in Riccione’s gelato scene is called sliceRoll, created by Luca Montersino. Opened last June on Via Dante, this format features a cylindrical gelato that’s sliced and served in various ways: on a stick, on a plate, or sandwiched between biscuits—with toppings such as crumble, chocolate chips, cream, or fresh fruit, turning it into a dessert. You can also take home the entire cylinder to share.
Choose from flavours like zabacaffè, mocha, coconut, stracciatella, hazelnut, fiordilatte, vanilla, and many lactose-free options like mango, berry, lemon.
