Falerio Pecorino Aspralama 2019

Marche
white

Description

VINEYARD | The portion of the vineyard planted with pecorino occupies about 5 hectares and is located at an altitude of 450 metres on clayey soil. The secret lies in the heart: the central part is the result of a mass selection of the clones that Nazzareno personally went to get in Tufo di Arquata del Tronto, a small hamlet located at the foot of Monte Vettore, in the Monti Sibillini park, where "the grape of the sheep" was the only one cultivated due to its resistant nature in a decidedly cold climate. The genetic material was recovered from the bases of old vines belonging to an elderly winemaker. He made a white that local customers confidentially called "aspralama" because not even a protracted harvest in early November took away from the wine that sharp sensation induced by furious acidity.

PERSON
| Nazzareno Pantaloni is the soul of the agricultural management of the winery directed by his daughters Federica and Francesca, both involved in the cellar and administration in a family-style project. The oenological operations are managed by Giuseppe Infriccioli, Francesca's husband, who comes from a family that has been involved in the Piceno wine world for a long time.

WINE | The appearance of Aspralama 2019 is crossed by lively golden reflections thanks in part to the passage in small French oak barrels and in part to a short maceration on the skins. Contrary to what one might think, the nose is not conditioned by the toasted inflection of the passage in new oak except in the expression of a warmer timbre which opens up a captivating olfactory range made up of perceptions of lemon peel, subtle hints of broom, sensations of aromatic herbs. A robust glyceric touch, induced by a slight over-ripeness of the grapes, is perceptible on entry into the mouth before the high varietal acidity creates copious streams of satisfying sapidity; in the tenacious finish, there are echoes of candied citrus, sage and summer fruit reverberating with exceptional clarity.

Pairing
Fried and stuffed “ascolana” olives and fried lamb.
