Founded in Verrés, in the lower Aosta Valley, La Valdotaine opened as a distillery in 1947 to produce grappa, and later genepy and bitter. In 1978 the business moved to Saint Marcel, where the company is located. Grappa, brandy-based liqueurs, fruit distillates, jams, marrons glacés, and hams are in the very varied catalogue. Look out for the Val d'Aosta grape grappas: Torrette, Picotendro, Gamay, and Muscat de Chambave.
