The Mock family's estate is situated between the hilly outskirts of Bolzano, in the Leitach area (where red grape varieties are grown) and Wassererhof, a few hectares at 450 meters elevation at the entrance to the Eisack Valley, where the cool breezes blowing down from the mountains contrast with the heat of the nearby city basin. A limited range of excellent quality is crafted in their recently built cellarwines that combine richness and tension. This year the Sauvignon '21 topped our preferences. Made with grapes from the Novale vineyards, matured in stainless steel and oak, it exudes vibrant scents of fresh flowers, white fruit, and gooseberry. The fortunate vintage brings suppleness and a distinct sapid presence that adds harmony and fullness to the palate. The interpretation of the Pinot Grigio '21 is also intriguing, following rich and mature scents with a crisp and almost austere palate. Among the reds, the dynamism of the Santa Maddalena '21 caught our attention.
