Located on the southern slope of Montalcino, Villa Poggio Salvi spans 21 hectares of vineyards, all planted with sangiovese grosso. These vineyards, perched at elevations between 350 and 500 meters, lie in an area cooled by the sea breezes and that's among the sunniest in the appellation. Since 1979, the property has been owned by Pierluigi Tagliabue, and it now benefits from the technical expertise of winemaker Luca Belingardi, Pierluigi's grandson. The full range of their Brunellos, decidedly territorial, excels in playing up aromatic complexity and richness of fruit, all counterbalanced by a solid but supple structure. The entire range presented this year possesses distinct personalities. Leading the pack is the Brunello Riserva '17, with its well-focused and multifaceted aromas of red berries, violet, chinotto, tobacco, and flint. In the mouth, a dense tannic structure harmoniously aligns with fruit, while acidity lends linearity to the palate, endowing it with an impressively long finish.
