As of last year, the Vanzini family finally added a pinot nero Metodo Classico to their range of well-known Metodo Martinotti sparklers and other bubblies. The historic producer, established in 1890 and currently managed by siblings Antonio, Michela, and Pierpaolo, has undergone other changes as well, including the redesigning of the brand and bottle graphics, and they're now looking confidently to the future. It's always worth pointing out the excellent value for money offered by their products. The Aiace is a well-crafted Metodo Classico, redolent of apple, citrus, white flowers, and wild strawberries. It's a fine drink in its bubbles, well-balanced, and clear on the finish. The Pinot Grigio '22, with its pronounced coppery highlights, proves rich in varietal nuances of peach and Williams pear, precise in its fruit, drinkable, and very smooth. The Sangue di Giuda Nemo '22 is among the best of its kind, redolent of black currant and red fruit jam, finishing on an almond note. As always, the two Martinottis from pinot nero grapes also perform well.
