For years now an integral part of Tenimenti Angelini, the winery, under Andrea Lonardi's guidance, has benefited from three distinct and esteemed production areas on as many slopes of Montalcino: Vigna Spuntali (in the southwest), Poggio al Granchio (southeast), and Vigna del Lago (northeast). Each has its own unique soil, elevation, and microclimate, necessitating a flexible approach when it comes to harvesting, vinification, and maturation in wood barrels. Not only are the three crus tended to individually, but all these variables have to be taken into account in relation to the vintage. The Brunello Vigna Spuntali '18 thoroughly convinces, offering up elegant wafts of berries and red fruits, softened by touches of mint, bay leaf, tobacco, and spices. The palate is well focused, revealing a delightful tannic backbone that's perfectly integrated with its round and fragrant fruit, all topped off by a sapid and fresh finish. The Brunello Vigna del Lago '18 is just as good, broad and multifaceted on the nose, harmonious and flavorful on the palate.
