Established in 1964 on the hills of Castel San Pietro, the winery began by dedicating itself to local grapes, but with time, added some international varietals to its portfolio. The property comprises eight estates, all managed under sustainable viticulture principles. Beyond the usual names, like sangiovese, merlot, cabernet sauvignon, albana, chardonnay, sauvignon, and trebbiano, they also cultivate the less common longanesi and pignoletto. They've also innovated with the unique merlese grape (which combines the best attributes of sangiovese and merlot), drawing on a collaboration with the University of Bologna. With the Colle del Re '14, the nose pleasantly surprises, conjuring on nuts and dried fruits like almonds and apricots. It possesses a smooth palate, creamy, with a refreshing touch to balance, and finishes with enduring hints of honey. The Resultum 20, made from sangiovese grapes, plays on whiffs of cherry liqueur and plums complemented by notes of licorice and tobacco. In the mouth it opens smooth, with tiny tannins, balanced acidity, and a relaxed palate, despite its close-knit, pronounced structure.
