Hailing from a family of Venetian vintners (with major experiences in Alto Adige as well), today Edi Trevisan is one of Cortona's most interesting producers. Only a few hectares of vineyards are cultivated, all with great care. They're divided into two parcels, Pietraia and Farneta, the first (situated a stone's throw from Lake Trasimeno) is flatter and more clayey, the latter is hilly and medium-textured, and dedicated entirely to Syrah. The first bottles arrived on the market in 2013, after renovation and modernization of the cellar. The Cortona Syrah Candito '18 is among the best of the year. Its dark color, almost inky, announces smoky notes, tar, sensations of animal skin and leather. The palate is also convincing, juicy, fresh and rhythmic, endowed with fine, brackish tannins, and a dynamic, long, lingering finish. Younger and crunchier, the Solo Syrah '19 is less clear and slightly foxy. The Solo Syrah Rosa '20 is open, characterized by notes of ripe fruit and spices.
