The historic Tiefenbrunner winery's viticultural heart lies in the South Tyrolean Unterland, about 25 hectares of estate vineyards, while additional plots are managed by some 60 growers working in the Eisack valley and the Bolzano basin as well. Active for over three and a half centuries in the territory, since the early aughts it's been guided by Christof, who has transformed it one of the area's leading producers, with wines that combine varietal expression with the strength of the terroir. The Chardonnay Vigna Au '19 hails from a vineyard just steps away from the winery. It opens with an intense sulfurous and smoky note that gradually gives way to fruit, captivating the palate with its tension and elegance. Made with grapes from the entrance to the Eisack Valley, the Sauvignon Rachtl '20 reveals a broad aromatic expression and an energetic, taut, and very long palate. The Feldmarschall '21 is completing its maturation in the recently expanded cellar.
