The hill of San Briccio is home to the Castagnedi brothers’ winery. The property is literally surrounded by vineyards nourished by a white and almost sparkling soil at 300 meters elevation. The large estate unfolds primarily here, but also reaches down to lower areas (administration has moved to their San Zeno facility). A wide range, mainly dedicated to the appellations of Verona, sees wines of great aromatic fragrance alternate with more complex and ambitious selections, not to mention their Telos line, made without added sulphites. The Valpolicella La Bandina ’18 is less focused on power than in the past and more attentive to the qualities of fragrance and tension typical of the region’s traditional grapes. Aromas of wild fruit are accompanied by oak and peppery notes, while on the palate the wine unfolds and lengthens decisively. The Campo dei Gigli ’17 is rich in its expression of morello cherry and spices, endowed with a close-knit, potent palate.
