Review

The small hamlet of Fittà is nestled among the vineyards in one of Soave Classico’s loveliest areas. Dark, basalt terrain (at times reddish) accumulates the heat during the day and releases it to the vineyards at night. Here, where Garganega and Trebbiano di Soave have been cultivated for centuries, we find the Tessari sisters, Alessandra, Meri and Valentina, leading the family business, a dozen hectares dedicated only to historical grapes. Theirs is a range of high caliber, from the simplest bottles to their premium wines, all characterized by a style in constant oscillation between richness and tension. The Soave Monte Carbonare ’19 is splendid, offering up vibrant notes of ripe yellow fruit on the nose, embellished by soft mineral nuances that are just waiting to take center stage. In the mouth it’s full, pervasive, supported by an intense sapidity that lends persistence. We also appreciated the Recioto Acinatium ’17, which sees delicate, floral aromas followed by a harmonious, highly elegant palate.
