Saladini Pilastri

Description

Work is underway at Saladino Pilastri. Not so much to expand the already substantial area under vines (largely dedicated to Piceno's traditional grapes), nor in the spacious cellar, which is equipped with everything needed to work calmly. The work involves a more precise mapping of the various production sites, allowing the new manager and winemaker Fabio Felicioni to remodel their range to give it a more contemporary makeup. The wine label designs are also undergoing a major overhaul, as are the market release times of their two most important reds, namely the Vigna Monteprandone and the Montetinello (hence their absence from this edition of the guide). While waiting for everything to be operational, the Piediprato '21 with its notes of sour cherries, toasty and well-resolved spicy whiffs stood out; the palate reveals a firm tannic structure. We also enjoyed the Rosso Piceno '22 a fragrant wine, relaxed on the palate—perfect for the dinner table.
