Rocca di Castagnoli, located in the heart of the Gaiole in Chianti UGA production zone, has been under the ownership of the Calì family since 1981. Today brothers Alessandro and Francesco run the winery, providing a reassuring continuity to its range. The wines, now recognized for their absolute excellence, are distinguished by their impeccable technical precision and a strong territorial identiy. The Calì family also owns Sicily's Graffetta and the Maremma vineyards of Poggio Maestrino. The Chianti Classico Poggio a' Frati Riserva '19 opens with a blend of fruity and earthy tones, paving the way to a dynamic, focused, and multifaceted palate. The Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Effe35 19 is tighter, its aromatic timbre somewhat influenced by oak which, even on the palate, makes its presence felt a tad too much. In contrast, the Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Stielle '18 is more relaxed on the palate, emanating distinct aromas and tending towards sapidity.
