The Roagna family has been producing wine in the Barbaresco region since the mid-19th century, acquiring various vineyards generation after generation. Their foray into Barolo began in 1989 with the purchase of the La Pira farmhouse in Rocche di Castiglione Falletto. Today, Luca Roagna has elevated the winery to global acclaim, though always while staying true to its origins. Notably, some of their vineyards, planted between 1937 and 1955, are among the oldest in the whole of Barolo, making for a range of immense charm, complexity, and longevity. We tip our hats to such an outstanding lineup. The Barbaresco Vecchie Viti Asili ranks among the finest and most elegant wines tasted in this edition. Ethereal, with floral and balsamic essences, it reveals a palate of pure harmony and flavor, delicate yet profoundly lingering. Its beauty and aromatic definition are almost disarmingly striking. A touch of unpredictable magic defines the Crichët Pajé '15: a whiff of volatility, then a dance of spiced chiaroscuro, finishing with hints of black truffle and rosemary. The velvety Montefico Vecchie Viti '18 is awe-inspiring in its energy and tannic presence, as is the Barolo Vecchie Viti '18.
