Today it's Jole and Enrico, the children of Ernesto Della Piana, who represent Cascina Rizzi. This burgeoning winery has seen its vineyard holdings grow annually, encompassing not only the historic Nervo and Rizzi crus but also vineyards in Pajorè, Giacone, and Bricco di Neive. In their cellars, alongside traditional 5000-liter barrels, they employ concrete vats to preserve the wines' freshness and aromatic clarity, resulting in wines that are both classic and deeply rooted in their terroir. Drawing on a splendid set of favorably-positioned vineyards, the Dellapiana family presents a vivid snapshot of the 2020 vintage. The raspberry and tobacco-scented Pajoré is characterized by its aristocratic, austere tannins. The Nervo stands out for its slightly iodized character on the nose and for a certain tannic austerity that's tempered by its richness. The Rizzi strikes a balance between tannins and freshness, with notes of quinine on the finish.
