Prunotto

Description

Acquisition of the estate by the Marchesi Antinori family took place over thirty years ago. Yet, the property's history dates back much further, to the early-20th century, when Alfredo Prunotto, a visionary winemaker, founded it. From the 1920s onwards, he played a pivotal role in championing Barolo on the global stage. With foresight, the Tuscan group has significantly expanded the area under vines, reaching into districts from Monforte d'Alba to Agliano Terme, by way of Monteu Roero and Barbaresco. The reliability and excellence of their range are indisputable. An outstanding lineup was presented this year. The Barolo Cerretta '19 possesses magnificent fruit in both its aromas and finesse, with a firm structure and a lengthy, multifaceted persistence. Despite the challenges of the vintage, the Barollo Bussia Vigna Colonnello Riserva '17 unveils raspberry jam, licorice, and tar notes. The palate is powerful and well sustained, with close-knit yet polished tannins. We also enjoyed the delicate, refined Barbaresco Secondine '20.
