Poggio Le Volpi

Description

Quality first and foremost—this is the common thread that runs through all the products of Poggio Le Volpi. The winery was founded way back in 1920. In those early days, it was Manlio Mergè who sold bulk wine, then came his son Armando, and finally his grandson Felice who gave the winery the identity we know today. Three generations have molded a single territorial identity expressed through both traditional and international grapes, crafted with a keen focus on technical precision and an approach centered on aromatic clarity. Continuing its reign at the top of the ranks is the Roma Rosso Riserva. The 2021 reveals aromatic herb and fig notes on the nose, accompanied by a substantial dose of minerality. The palate proves compact and pervasive. The Baccarossa also holds its ground. Crafted from 100% nero buono grapes, its bouquet emanates cherry and licorice scents, while the palate boasts concentration and body, underscored by significant tannic structure. The Donnaluce impresses with its sweet citrus charm, offering a refreshing hint of sage on the palate.
