Vincenzo Tommasi is a clear-eyed visionary who achieved his lifelong dream: to live out his passion for agriculture and cultivate his favorite grape, pinot noir. After graduating in agronomy, a choice driven by passion (he also has a background in electronics), he began working for Tuscan estates, eventually landing in Casentino, an area often overlooked from a winemaking perspective. Once he found the right territory, he planted pinot noir in 2006, setting a trend that many Appennino producers would follow. This year, we tasted the 2020, and it didn't disappoint. Civettaja's signature red is a national benchmark for the variety, manifesting a multifaceted nose with notes ranging from small red fruits to spicy touches and a supple, relaxed palate where perfect tannins are complemented by a well-integrated acidity. The finish is impeccable and cleanartisanal craftsmanship at its finest.
