It's well known that the entire region owes its fame to the very high quality of its whites, a reputation that benefits all its wineries except the one managed by Michele Moschioni who goes, and has always gone, against the grain, producing only reds through personal winemaking techniques that call for drying of the grapes before pressing (leading to higher concentrations). His plots include 50-plus-year-old vines, planted on their own roots, ungrafted, making for juicy, sugary grapes, rich in aromas and mineral salts. By choice, back in 2016 the producer stopped presenting wines for review, but fortunately this year we once again had the chance to taste themand it was a joy for our palates. They're succulent, soft and pervasive bottles that enjoy notable fragrance. Their alcohol content is considerably high, but necessary to keep their powerful, lively (though smooth) tannins at bay.
