Silvia Imparato built her winery on an ancient Bourbon estate in Montevetrano di San Cipriano Picentino, on the Salerno Hills. With the guidance of Riccardo Cotarella, she crafted her now-famous blend of cabernet sauvignon, aglianico, and merlot (named Montevetrano). Over time the range expanded to include two captivating wines, her two Cores (Bianco and Rosso), highlighting the aglianico, fiano, and greco grapes. Indeed, the Core Aglianico seemed the most accomplished of this year's lineup. The 2020 emanates aromas of Mediterranean scrub and blackberry bramble. On the palate, it features superb precision supported by a robust yet unobtrusive tannic structure, finishing fresh and sapid. The Montevetrano '21 proves denser and more concentrated; toasty notes and ripe black fruits introduce a palate rich in tannins, enlivened by a herbaceous hint and balsamic whiffs. The fragrant Core Bianco '22 unveils tones of lemon and tropical fruits; a hint of white flowers paves the way for a brackish, juicy palate.
