Established by Luigi in 1973, this year the Cristofanon family's winery is celebrating its half-century mark. Today, Raffaele and Paola are at the helm, with Andrea and Matteo representing the new generation. Their 30-hectare vineyard in the northwestern part of the Euganean Hills mainly hosts merlot and cabernet, offering a delightful balance of highly drinkable wines and selections more characterized by structure and depth. The grapes for the Vigna delle Roche '18, a Bordeaux riserva (predominantly merlot) are cultivated in their Rovolon vineyards. It pours a lovely, bright ruby hue, the prelude to aromas of fleshy fruit accompanied by fresher, balsamic notes and finally hints of underbrush. In the mouth, it reveals a body that's more pronounced and vigorous than its aromas might suggest, moving decisively and with tension. The Cabernet Sereo of the same vintage is richer and more exuberant.
