Gianluca Mirizzi's personal project has integrated perfectly with the family estate of Montecappone. The varying production sites and different stylistic vision has led to a range where every wine is unique. If the Mirizzi-branded wines have a tailor-made cut, those of Montecappone aim for reliability and wider distribution, thanks to adequate production volumes. Common elements are the workforce, the large cellar on the outskirts of Jesi, and the support of consultant Lorenzo Landi. The two Grenache-based wines are very good: the Totus Tuus '20 proves complex in its aromas, multilayered in the mouth thanks to a compact, smooth, and deep texture. The Cogito R '22 is an enticing procession of spices, flowers, with a taut, sapid palate; hints of blood orange on the finish. The Ergo '21, by virtue of the warm vintage, comes across as rounded, mouthfilling, reassuring in its aromas of summer fruit. In the absence of the Riserva Utopia, Montecappone presented a nice Federico II '22, varietal in its aromas, well balanced on the palate.
