Review

Gino Magnabosco’s winery stands out clearly on the hill that delimits the Soave Classico area to the south. The sizeable estate, on the other hand, unfolds across some of the territory’s most hidden and sought-after folds, such as the slopes of Monte Foscarino or Tenda. Over the years attention has also been paid to the Campiano area, where a limited but notable line of Valpolicella reds are forged. If fragrance and ease of drinking characterize their simpler wines, their reserves privilege complexity. The Soave Foscarin Slavinus ’19 expresses this complexity on the nose, with ripe yellow fruit embellished by mineral notes and dried flowers. In the mouth the wine opens with fullness and compactness, pleasantly rustic and outlined by a marked sapidity that accompanies the palate across a long finish. The Casette Foscarino ’19 is even more mature and pervasive, both in terms of aromas and on the palate.
