Review

The wines produced along the eastern shore of Garda are characterized by inimitable qualities of lightness and fragrance. There is the risk, however, of a style that’s too simple and easy. Le Tende, a winery run by Mauro Fortuna, has managed to interpret the territory and its traditions with wines that immediately pursue depth and character, the result of a deep knowledge of the area’s traditional cultivars and a certain sensitivity in the cellar. The grapes for their Bardolino are cultivated in Cavaion, while the remaining vineyards are situated in Colà di Lazise. The Bardolino ’20 is fantastic, a wine that opens on vibrant notes of wild fruit, spices and undergrowth brought out on a palate supported by an overt sapidity. In the mouth its lightness gives way to finesse, and immediacy becomes personality, making for a supremely pleasant drink. The intriguing Chiaretto di Bardolino ’20 proves refreshing in its notes of blackberry and fresh flowers, convincing in the mouth for its sapidity, which supports a crisp, dynamic palate.
