Paolo and Fabio Zenato have managed to harmonize the historical nursery with wine production, making Morette one of the most interesting agri-businesses in all of Lugana. The vineyards, which unfold on the clays that characterize the appellation (between Lake Frassino and the Garda basin) are mostly dedicated to turbiana, while in their beautiful and spacious cellar, they produce a solid, highly reliable range of wines. Naturally, it's the Zenato family's Luganas that most impressed, led by the Benedictus '21 and the Riserva '20. The grapes from the former are cultivated in the estate's oldest vineyard, then matured in steel and partly in barrels. The result is aromas of white fruit and flowers, sensations that reemerge on a crisp and lively palate. The latter comes from vineyards with higher clay content and benefits from a long stay on the lees. It's a wine that highlights fullness but also suppleness and tension, unfolding towards a charming, smoky finish.
