Founded in the early 1980s, Le Macchiole took shape thanks to Eugenio Campolmi and Cinzia Merli, the couple who today run the winery with the support of their sons Elia and Mattia. Respect for the territory and the environment have characterized their production philosophy since the beginning, with biodynamic agriculture adopted just over ten years ago. Cabernet franc, cabernet sauvignon, merlot, syrah are the red grapes grown. Chardonnay and sauvignon for the whites. All their impeccably manicured vineyards are arranged in a semicircle, as if to emulate a theater. The Paleo '19, 100% cab franc, surprises on the nose for its rich aromatic profile, opening on vibrant notes of small fruits, with cherry in the foreground, then warmer nuances of oak and tobacco and finally Mediterranean scrub; the palate is opulent yet also balanced and harmonious, pulpy with crunchy red fruit, fresh, revealing silky tannins before a long finish on fruit and whiffs of licorice. The Syrah Scrio '19 is excellent, the Merlot Messorio '19 simply charming.
