Le Colture was founded by the Ruggeri brothers in the early 1980s, when Cesare transformed the family business by laying the foundation for a line of sparkling wines, which still represents the core of production. Today his children Silvia, Alberto and Veronica look after all stages of production full-time. The estate has grown, especially in the Conegliano Valdobbiadene area (but also in nearby Montello), making for a highly reliable range. The lineup presented has no weak points, starting with an excellent Gerardo ’20, an Extra Brut made with Santo Stefano grapes. On the nose it offers up vibrant fruity and flowery notes, with apple and jasmine at the fore. In the mouth the absence of residual sugars makes for a palate with a pleasantly sharp profile, balanced thanks to a supporting sapidity. The Pianer, the softer version, is marked by great elegance, winning you over with its juicy palate and the pleasant vivacity of its fizz.
