In Valdobbiadene viticulture has been historically concentrated on the dense weave of hills that represent its outer border and the multiple plots are usually owned by countless growers who often sell their harvest to other producers. La Tordera, on the other hand, avails itself of a large estate vineyard, which allows the winery to follow almost the entire production itself, sourcing only a marginal amount of grapes. Their range is dedicated exclusively to sparkling wine. This Vidor producer presented a consistent lineup for tasting, led by an excellent version of the Otreval ’20, the Extra Brut produced in their best Guia vineyards. The nose opens on soft notes of white fruit accompanied by wisteria flowers and a curious vegetal nuance, while the palate reveals creamy bead, lengthening sapid, with nice acid tension, finishing crisp and clear.
