La Collina dei Ciliegi was founded at the dawn of the new millennium by Massimo Gianolli as a loving tribute to the hills of Erbin, which cradled the youth of his father, Armando. In just a few years, what was once a picturesque highland property with an old rustic building has been transformed into an estate boasting over 30 hectares of vineyards, a winery seamlessly integrated with its surroundings, and a charming relais. Alongside Massimo are esteemed wine professionals, including Lydia and Claude Bourguignon. Finally, we had the chance to taste the first wines from their highest quality vineyards, in particular the Valpolicella Peratara '19. It aims to express all the finesse that these vineyards, situated at 500-plus meters elevation, can offer. Aromas of cherry and spices find an important vein of freshness in medicinal nuances, all reflected in a sapid, lively, and long palate. A juicy drink of commendable suppleness, the Amarone Ciliegio '18 is deeper in its aromas, more mature, and multi-layered.
