Review

Over the last decade, the historic winery on Via Cerè has carried out major renovations to their cellar such that today it’s a true gem, both for those who work there and for lucky visitors. Their technical staff, on the other hand, continue on the path developed over many years by grandfather Giuseppe, one that Francesco and Lorenzo have managed to interpret with attention and sensitivity. The limited range of wines proposed aptly interprets the territory’s traditional grapes, with a style that fluctuates between vitality and complexity. Two Amarones were submitted, the result of two excellent years, the sunny 2012 vintage and the cooler 2013. The first expresses an aromatic suite of great poise, with super-ripe fruit adorned by notes of dried flowers and spices, and a harmonious palate that proves pervasive yet supple. The second comes across as more compact and immediate in its expression of sweet fruit, but changes pace on the palate, where greater acidity and sapidity lend dynamism to an energetic palate with great aging potential.
