Gianni Tessari’s property extends over many hectares in the border area that lies between the provinces of Vicenza and Verona (within the Soave and Monti Lessini appellations). Garganega, in the case of the first, Durella for the second, give rise to a range that alternates elegant whites with plucky, ageworthy sparklers. We also shouldn’t forget the lovely estate in the heart of the Berici Hills, where mostly Bordeaux varieties are cultivated alongside the traditional Tai Rosso. Their sparkling wines put in an excellent performance, with a Riserva ’10 that, more than 10 years after harvest, opens on complex aromas, with fruit giving way to notes of dried flowers, melba toast and chalk. In the mouth creamy, delicate bubbles and acidity accompany a long palate. The Perinato ’19 also delivers. It’s a Soave that manages to combine freshness and complexity, proving sapid, juicy and quite long.
