The arrival of Alberto and Amedeo Moretti Cuseri has breathed fresh vitality into this esteemed Sicilian winery located in Val di Noto. The latest developments have been less about quality which has consistently been exceptional and more about new initiatives and their communication. Already certified organic, the producer has amplified its commitment to sustainability while continuing to prioritize the region's indigenous, bush-trained vineyards and native varietals, such as nero d'Avola and grillo. The entire range performed excellently, with the Nero d'Avola Saia '20 (erroneously reviewed in last year's guide) standing out. It unveils vibrant aromas of dark fruits, violet, spices, and Mediterranean scrub. The palate proves soft, pervasive, and long-lasting, truly characterful. The Grillo Family and Friends Firraru '21 earned Tre Bicchieri by virtue of its broad and pleasant bouquet, summoning lemon blossom, lavender, yellow fruit, and almond. Boosted by acidity, the palate is fresh and sapid, culminating in a gratifying finish.
