Edi Simcic

Description

Edi Simcic was the founder, but now it's his son Aleks who runs the family winery. Their vineyards are situated in the districts of Vipolže (where the cellar is based), Kozana and Fojana, at an elevation between 100 and 250 meters. The first bottling dates from 1989. All their wines, both whites and reds, are produced in French oak barrels and are divided into three lines: Classic, Lex and Single Vineyard. Right from the start, the Simcic family undertook a sustainable path, both in vinegrowing and winemaking. The logical outcome of low yields per plant and rigorous grape selection is wines with remarkable structure and intriguing aromas. They can sometimes be controversial, linked to tradition but modern, or respectful of varietal characteristics and the essence of the fruit. Rebula Fojana '20 honors the most iconic grape variety in this territory, as does Triton '19, a monovarietal sauvignon vert.
