The Coos family has been producing wine on the steep slopes at the northernmost end of the Friuli Colli Orientali appellation since the early 19th century. For as long as anyone can remember, they have cultivated verduzzo gialloa grape variety that yields small clusters with thick, tough skin that's ideal for dryingin this unique terroir, with its hills, cold nights, warm days, and plentiful rainfall. Today, a small group of passionate members manages the property and production includes a diverse range of wines, primarily from indigenous grapes, each one serving as an ambassador for the area. All the wines presented hail from the 2022 harvest and, given the accolades, it's clear that it was a superb vintage in the area. The Chardonnay '22, in particular, caught our attention. It unveils fresh notes of spearmint and lime on the nose, then sensations of pineapple juice and cinnamon. beckoning to be sipped, it wraps the palate, and then departs slowly.
